‘Tis the Spring Break Season!
This month is a traveling month for so many. When I was a young girl, there used to be only one designated week for spring break. Here in Alabama, They called it the AEA break, the Alabama Education Association break, and it was a southeast regional spring break. I know I am aging myself; but does
anyone else remember AEA? But times have changed. Currently, just in my immediate area, there are three different spring break schedules that cover three weeks in March. I guess the upside for the vacationers is that there may be fewer crowds. And for me, as a travel agent, it spreads out my travel bookings. Throughout this month I have families on cruises, at Disney and Universal in Orlando, and New York City; and college seniors going to Cancun and cruising the Bahamas and Key West. There are so many choices! OR some occasionally opt for the “stay-cation”, which would have been super this week. It feels almost like beach weather, with the unseasonably warm weather and temps in the 80s.
My husband and I usually travel during mid and low season, which for childless couples and empty-nesters is to our advantage. We don’t have kids and don’t take these special school holidays to travel. But my mind today is on the good old days of our Cook family travels-My father Bob, mom Betty, and their three daughters-Melanie, Meg & Marianne (me). We had so many great adventures together including trips to Disney World and the beach; and a fantastic two-week summer trip out West where we stopped off at the Grand Canyon (see photo of the three Cook girls). With each special getaway, our family created memories together that truly have lasted a lifetime. I hope for any of you travelers reading this blog that you each have a safe, happy and memorable vacation, wherever you decide to venture.
Happy Spring & Happy Travels!
